As a Syracuse local, I’ve been asked by friends and family members from all over the country (and world) about the best place to stay when travelling to this great city. And, invariably, the question of whether or not to choose a hotel or a condo always comes up.
There are a few factors to consider when making this decision. Cost is always a key consideration, of course. Hotels in the city can be expensive, while condo rentals can be more affordable, depending on the size and location of the unit. Another important factor to consider is convenience. When you’re in a hotel, everything is within walking distance - your room, the lobby, the restaurant, the bar. But, when you’re in a condo, you may need to drive or take public transportation to get to your desired destination.
Depending on your travel plans, this may or may not be a deal breaker. If you’re coming to Syracuse to visit family or friends, they may be located in a different part of the city than where you’re staying, so a condo may actually be more convenient. If you’re here for a conference or to do some sightseeing, though, a hotel may be a better option, since you won’t need to worry about getting around.
